Jan 4' 82/ Pelargonium ros Leaves to compare see if C. of A. acted merely as a poison— a part of leaf was immersed in 1/2 oz of water with 2 drops of c 1 per cent sol. of Osmic A. for about 24˚ & leaf then sliced by F. — Globular hairs generally blackened — owing to minute sphere as black as ink.—

Cut surface blackened throughout— Epidermis on both surfaces of darkened & cells on lower surface affected to some depth — vascular bundle slightly darkened — Chlorophyll grain not affected in middle part or in palissade cells— No spheres formed — Plenty of concretions — no aggregation of Ch. grain
