Apr 27/73/ From Rev in Edinburgh, perhaps I ought to add after when I speak of no use from paintings.— I have strongly blamed & produced from the opinion, it may of course be the artists imagination; but I should not think that anyone can feel sure of the central be [illeg] all to one of a picture (exists any one which may [lines illeg] asked what its proper.— I shall have occasion perhaps to state thus many of its [illeg illeg] states of the mind can also be recognized by the eyes & [words illeg] portrayed by other artists, but I have noy been so fortunate as to find any definite description of what it is in the [words illeg] excess and state of mind.
