Neglecting one case in which the 2 case germinated
similarly, this case or exactly half in [ten] many of the self fertilised seeds germinated before the crossed, & in the other half many of the crossed germinated before the self-fertilised. In 4 out of 20 cases seeds derived from a cross with a fresh stock was compared with self-fertilised seeds from one of the later s. far generations, & here again in half the cases the crossed seeds germinated far & in the other half self-fert seeds germinated first, yet to seedlings [illeg] be the [illeg] seeds of cases of [words illeg] seedling, & in the case of [illeg] it was [illeg] in fertility. With [illeg] the [illeg] [illeg] of the 2 cases of seeds were [illeg] in only a few cases, instances but with [illeg] & I believe with some other species, the [illeg] [illeg] of the self-fertilised seed seem to determine the early generation, fully only to a less amount of compare with bearing the [illeg] the complex chemical & morphological changes require for germintion.
