Wolf, Josef, 1820-99. German-born painter and illustrator of animals. W had a studio, together with Johann Baptist Zwecker, at 59 Berners Street, London. CD contacted W to draw animals for Expression. W also drew the orangutans in Wallace's Malay archipelago (1869). Letter to W and recollections of CD in A.H.
