[51]

Phalaris Canariensis soaking for 21° in sol of 4 to 1000 no action.

Vicia sativa, soaking, exposed for 21° 1/2° in sol. of 4 to 1000 — Roots have a very faint striped longitudinally appearance apparently due to certain rows of cells being more transparent & other of faintest brownish tint, but I can see something of the kind in root not exposed to ammonia; so I may say no effect. I believe excessively minute globules in the superficial cells had increased in number. I observed that there were often collection of granules at base of the young root-hairs

Cycas —? young Plant described in movement of Plants) roots immersed for 21° in sol. of 7 to 1000 no effect. —
