Aggregation

Cucurbita ovifera — Short lateral cut off roots (seeds pinned to cork lid of jar) left in C. of am. 2 to 1000, after 2 hr. exhibited no plain aggregate; but some way above root-cap, there were minute granules within many cells & these were now collected into groups. After 24 hr no greater or anyhow plain effect— So that roots of young seedlings are not affected

Aug. 20' Lateral rootlets, germinated in damp air after 24 hr. in sol. of C. of ammonia of 4 to 1000 show no distinct sign of aggregation. There are granules in cells almost all the cells, probably aggregation, but not special lines of vessels with conspicuous

[aggregation].
