In order to test The superiority of the crossed plants over the self-fertilised plants was proved in various ways in different ways.

Self-fertilised seeds were sown on one side of a pot, and two days afterwards crossed seeds was sown on the opposite sides. The two lots of seedlings were equal until they were above half an inch in height high only, yet; but at last when fully grown
