Furrowed fields

As worms abound as on Lawn Chalk in their layer of mould – it may be that after furrow partially filled up worms there bring up more fine Earth & this consequently gets washed away & renewed more than that on the convex parts, & this wd keep the land long-furrowed – and much old ploughed land may [have] have been completely smoothed.
