Orchis pyramidalis. Aug 17. 1875 - 6 flowers - stem the finest, selected out of about 12 growing below Orchis Bank.

(If I make a sum total subtract 11 flowers still expanded) & 3 doubtful, from state of ovary

N. B. The inconspicuousness of the few flowers on summit of spike, & more especially the withdrawal of nutriment to support the many capsules lower down, quite account for some flowers being left unfertilised on tip
