p 258 The Sauga or Galla cattle with immense horns - nearly 4 ft long, 21 inches in circumference at base. Cows well provided - not result of disease
Append. p. XXXVIII. 2 kind of Dogs, common Pariah dog of India & a strong swift Dog.
p XL Rhinoceros, Elephant, Zebra, Lion, Giraffe (Hippopotamus in Ægypt) Many Antelopes Wild Buffalo Lemur, Hogs & Ostrich, show how similar Zoology to that of Cape. There must have been subsidence as shown by coral-reefs, by isthmus of Suez; as shown by difference of Fauna of Mediterranean & Red Sea - Perhaps higher land favoured inroad of Abyssinian Highland Plants
p. XLVIII. Columba Guinea "This is the common Domestic Pigeon of Abyssinia; hundreds are seen round the house of every chief - They have a bright red eye & do not vary in colour" vide note on Temminck, habits render this not improbable.
