p.21 Few plants are peculiar to arctic America & only 4 exclusively found in W. Eskimo land Alludes to some notion of plants having migrated from the South.

It must be Forbes doctrine.

p. 26 The wolf often caught by the Eskimo for the purpose of crossing their dogs & thus adding to their size & strength. (Selection)

p. 39 Sir J. Richardson in regard to fossils in Eschscholtz Bay remarks that they have "an American type of ruminants was perceptible even in that early age." (Ovibos. mountain sheep) p 82 speaks of so few plants being peculiar to the Sandwich Islands!
