p. 142. horses of Peru mostly natural amblers of; of which there are several varieties. The paso llano is very smooth — trotting horses cannot be taught it — though such easily acquire the paso portante, which is very rapid, with rocking movement — fore & hind feet / same side being reined simultaneously, it is the pace of the giraffe — the paso portante natural & trotting horses can easily be taught it.
