Parsley. Plants growing close together; one covered up — several left uncovered & much visited by small Diptera & Hymenopt

Plant under net produced quite as many & as fine seed, as the uncovered plants.

Nov. 13th 3° P.m. on sand—

(Nov 19th 10° P.m. one of self-fert. germinated.)

(21' 7. A.m a second self-fert. germ.)

(23d 7° 30' one not self-fert. germ.)

(Seed sown in pot no I & covered with sand, Both crossed & uncrossed came up Nov. 28th 8° A.m. in Hothouse.) almost all killed by H. H & moved into greenhouse. —

(Pot I. (Dec. 1') the self-fertilised tallest!

Pot 2. & 3 Transplanted seeds no difference in Hothouse

(Dec. 16th Parsley in sand self-fert. perhaps tallest) —

(Pot 2 perhaps do, this pot has been moved into greenhouse, for wd not stand Hot-house. Pot 3 do —)

(Feb. 10th in sand, crossed rather the advantage: Pot 2. crossed rather finest plants: Pot 3 both lots equal: Pot 1. quite equal.)

(March 31' Pot I & 3 equal. — Pot 2 crossed finest, perhaps so in sand.)

(June 3d. Pots turned out in K. G. some time ago — no difference in growth of any.)
