Mr. Gould - Argus-Pheasant
Look to 1st secd feathers I have said basal spot is larger (little) than other & edged above with rufous or fulvous. I perceive it is a single spot not formed by (only one spot) union of 2 spots.
Is its elongation transverse (nearly) like the other spots in same row Yes, or towards shaft? but a trace more towards shaft
Is there any spot below the zoned spot in the first & succeeding secondary, nearer the shaft? (No)
Do any of the spots above show signs of colours zoning (No)
Look to upper imperfect ocelli in the penult feathers - & see what state the stripe is that belongs to this ocellus & whether tops of ocellus is free from all traces of the thickened portion - (Yes)
[116v]
5 spots on 1st secondary - penultimate row & penultimate spot - very dull fulvous shading
([illeg] elliptic inner over 3d feather)
The outermost feather has horse-shoe ornament for the ocelli becomes imperfect, somewhat like terminal ocellus
These lower spots on 1st feather wd never have been even noticed if not carefully sought for.
