Dec. 21 77 Pfeffer in letter to F. & in essays on [illeg] urges that it is not protoplasm that aggregates, but contents of the cell-sap - very difficult to believe that all these movements are not physico-mechanical, such as viscid fluids exhibit when coalescing - says aggregation goes on in dead Drosera killed by poison - How cd he know dead - Crushed cells - I imagine like leucophytes in blood if they were to aggregate Says the final sphere of Matter is the attainment of equilibrium - good
