Jan 30/71/ After N. Amer Grouse ♂ of which inflates crop - add Swinhoe says Upupa does so & some species of Cuckoos with very loud voices & pigeons when cooing. It may be suspected that the inflated œsophagus & crop in all these cases serves as resounding apparatus Add as * (?)
