I feel convinced that Gregory Bay, C. Monmouth, [Freshwater] bays are of the Patagonian form: proofs elevation, outliers & improbability of the low intervening beds. having such an elevation: a probable termination of Patagonia:

(Perhaps, Table Mountain, Orosco do.) — They are probably same nature as old alluvium, perhaps covered by new alluvium: hence trees: — proximity climate & detritus. —

Upon elevation, C. Monm. island: Freshwater range, protected by Brunswick peninsula: Gregory. Beagle hills. termination. Patagonia: during elevations with more open seas.

every thing was removed (no vestiges of 350 cliff). Elevation caused western barriers. deposits commenced.

When 350 cliff was beneath sea & shells & earth scattered on its surface, these recent beds were formed x. & began to be shortly elevated at same time.

They were not deposited tranquilly: coarse deposits facing old straits: tranquil behind C. Monmouth tranquil, facing St. Sebastian rough. — behind slate tranquil: — during the first (& all) elevation surface much furrowed (different from Patagonia) especially in the channels. not as much about C. Virgins. —

From range of land I conjecture main channel was at this period through Otway water: —

the Sts of Magellan

probably but a shoal one. (or not much current) An elevation (a large one) joined Elizabeth Island &c. when appearance. point out this
