treated in the same manner with urea, but was little affected after 9h. : neverthless after 23h the spherical  as well as  for all the other  glands on [illeg] had  had become brown brownish brown & more shrank; & in several of the oily head glands the uticular protoplasmic layer had become still browner & contracted  into irregular solid little masses or particles.)

(Two other specimens with all the glands colourless & not [illeg] shrunk were treated in the same manner. After 5h many of the glands were presented a shade of brown of brown hard with the  [utricular] protoplasmic layer slightly shrunk. After 20h 40m some l few glands were quite brown with irregularly aggregated masses & some werestill colourless not with the  [utricular] protoplasmic layer shrunk; but the greater number were not much affected. This was a good instance of how unequally the [illeg] glands on the same bladder are affected & good instance how unequally to [illeg] on the same bladder as affected & but likewise [illeg] with the species the plant which likewise may often be observed with plants in a cloth bladder from plants growing in fould water. Two other specimens were treated with a solution of water of the same strength, but which had been kept for some time several days in a warm room & had probably [illeg] decayed:  anyhow  the [illeg] glands were not at all affected when examined after 21h.) after irrigation.)
