effective solutions, they are not acted on, or only slightly & slowly. If, however, the protoplasmic layer contains merely a few course grangules, this does not prevent subsequent action from a solution. Hence it appears that the glands are capable of after absorbing to the only once full act of absorbtion; full extent have done this work; & for I have never seen any appearance of making it probable, & having that they are capable of recovering their pristine colourless & homogeneous condition.)
