My dear George

I have been paying rather dear for my day in London (to see Ellen T. [Tollet]) which however I wd not have missed, as I think it doubtful whether I shall ever see her in Q. A [Queen Anne Street] again

She was v. cheerful. Then I saw Eras & fell in w Effie just as usual in manner, & talking a little about Cam.

[2]

I did not improve any day's work by suddenly waking up to the chalk cutting at Chelsfield ─ However it only delayed me an hour or so

U. Hensleigh is very comf. & placid ─ Mary D'arcy came yesterday & Carry & Alice Tylor ─ He is at ease w. every body & took m. to Mary D'. Please send this letter to F. to Hen. after Horace has seen it ─

It is not a bad thing for Fr. to be stirred up by some scientific squabbles tho' vexations for him to have been the cause. F. sent off his papers, for him to publish at once as the others are doing ─ It is very vexatious that his mould movements shd have been forestalled

yours my dear G.

E. D

[3]

I find F. can't spare F's letter till he has answered it ─ when you shall have it Leo did not invite his Frenchman as he cd not find out his name or title
