See enclosed ─ I have Lewis in the house disinterring such loads of old boxes, shelves, drawers, bedsteads &c ─ wh. Lewis is going to rid me of for some small sum ─

After you were gone on Sunday came Sir J Mrs Mul. [Mulholland] & the Tyndalls pleasant; but I was at church & so missed them, not that I cared ─

Yesterday I saw old Brooks & was amused to find how much news he picks up. He was deeply interested in Lefroy's trial ─ also in Uncle Eras. fortune which

he seemed to know all about; but could not make out who Caroline Sarah was. Also about Bessy coming home without being shot ─ also about the new land & wall. He wd not own that any one read the newspapers to him.
