Dear Sir

I shall be greatly obliged to you if you will have the kindness to allow me to see any letters written by my father, the late Charles Darwin which may be in your possession.

I should wish, with your consent, to make copies of them, and they should

afterwards be carefully returned to you

It is of course fully understood that nothing in any letter which you may allow me to see will be made public without your full consent.

Dear Sir

yours faithfully

Francis Darwin
