Gwen & my father = Professor Sir George Darwin KCB b. 1845 d Dec 1912. Elected Plumian

Professor of Astronomy 1883 (which he held to his death. Family consisted of Gwen b 1885 Charles b 1887 Margaret b. 1890. William 1894 d 1970

Frances' Father = Sir Francis Darwin b 1848 d 1925.

Bernard b. 1876 (mother Amy Ruck d. 1876)

Frances b 1886 (mother Ellen Wordsworth Crofts d. 1903) at Trin. as undergraduate but Fellow of Christ's 1886 Reader in botany 1888-1904. Ellen died 1903)

Honorary Fellow of Christ's 1908.

but I should think my brother Charles says he is best described as 'Botanist' & another of the Life (& Letters) of Charles Darwin— I think (from the DNB) he had no official University job after 1904, tho' he went on working at the Botanical Lab. & served on RS Council etc
