RECORD: FitzRoy, M. J. to Darwin, Emma née Wedgwood. 1882.06.30. CUL-DAR198.72. (John van Wyhe ed., 2002-. The Complete Work of Charles Darwin Online, http://darwin-online.org.uk/)

REVISION HISTORY: Transcribed and edited by John van Wyhe 2.2026. RN1

NOTE: See record in the Darwin Online manuscript catalogue, enter its Identifier here. Reproduced with permission of the Syndics of Cambridge University Library. The folder CUL-DAR198 contains letters, mostly to Francis Darwin, regarding his appeals for letters from Darwin in order to create Life and letters (1887).

Although the catalogue records this as a letter to Emma Darwin, it appears to be to Francis Darwin.

many more — latterly  my dear Husband did not keep so many letters as he had done in earlier days —

One letter I regret much I cannot find — It amused us both so much — written at the time of the publication of the "Origin of the Species" — I have registered the letters as you requested —

Yours truly

M J. FitzRoy
