My dear Christine
I am sending the autograph I promised of my father. It is a bit of the first edit of the Origin. But I'm sorry I can't send Ruskin, as I only find two notes of his.

In case you would like them, I send a Lord Avebury & a Mrs Thackeray Ritchie (Thackeray's daughter & author of Village on the Cliff [illeg].
I suppose you are all hard at work now in all sorts of ways & the poor animals left alone at Seal Harbour, tho' I suppose some of the most beloved dogs & horses came to N. York with you.
