My dear George

Thank you very much for your letter & all you say – Now our centre is gone we must write to each other – I, at any rate, kept the run of all your lives from mother. I am so glad the children

are old enough to remember her — all but Billy — And he can be told what pleasure he gave her her last few months of life — Dear old George your constant faithfulness gave her such pleasure & she was always so glad that

you loved Down in a way the others did not.

If it is possible I should like to pay my last visit to Down when you are there if I can. The dear chicks wd make it less sad & I should feel Maud's calm presence a help—

There is not much to say about R. There is really no change from day to day.

The bad symptoms are no more wh. means better – rather wearing pain at night – quite fairly comf days — appetite good & strength

I do feel her guise a treasure with a rough manner & [illeg] accent—

I hope you will go & see Lady Derby in London sometimes — write a feeling letter!
