Dear Darwin

The platysma is not the remnant of the panniculus, both are dermal delaminations from the body-wall musculature of the same order but in different localities. The platysma is an estension of the dermal muscles which surrounds the first post-oral visceral cleft and is innervated by the 7th cranial delamination from the body wall of the

trunk and is innervated by the several spinal nerves corresponding with region which it occupies.

I can in my own neck, use the platysma voluntarily and I fancy most people can do so
