John Edward Marr (1857-1933) was a student at St. John's College, Cambridge, who matriculated in 1875 and graduated in 1878. In 1886 he became a lecturer in geology at Cambridge and Fellow of St. John's.

I enclose the photo of the monkey let down in 1877. It was captured by one Hornby Steer, brother of Wilson Steer, & taken by him to Hills & Saunders to be photographed.
