Dear Erasmus

Charles wants to sell out the L. & N. W railway stock standing in your & my joint names. I have accordingly devised Coutts to send the certificates to Stokes & Hughes for that purpose – forgetting that your consent would be necessary – Coutts have sent the certificates but wish a line of approval to the effect of the [ ] note which I presume you will have no objection to send to them.

The trust of Emma's property under my father's will is as I suppose you know of so that a description that it may at

any timeto put an end to. I have therefore proposed to Charles that when he reinvests this money it shall be in his own name instead of ours – if you do not wish to have it otherwise arranged.
