1 The full letter to Henslow, from a copy and dated by the editors of the Correspondence to 25 July 1845 is in Correspondence vol. 3. The editors noted that the original had not been found. Part of the letter was published, mis-dated by Francis Darwin, in LL 1:343. The "Autograph MS. 'Blight on Corn'" is almost certainly "Mr. Darwin's memorandum" published by Henslow in Rust in wheat. Gardeners' Chronicle (28 September 1844): 659. F1668a. See the explanatory notes there. Waller had advertised a Darwin ALS 8vo in 1876 for 4s 6d. John Stevens Henslow, professor of botany at the University of Cambridge, died on 16 May 1861 aged sixty-five.
