802 Darwin (Charles)
A.L.s., Down, 1 p., 8vo, 2 Jan., 1881 [for 1882], to Mr. Kowalevsky, ". . . As for myself I am fairly well, but feel very old with fainting strength," with original envelope.
*** Written only three and a half months before the writer's death. The postmark on the envelope gives the correct date, and shows that in dating the letter "Jan 2d. 1881" Darwin was making the common mistake of forgetting to change the year-number at the beginning of a new year.
