466 Darwin, Charles

Interesting A. L. s. 17 November, 1854

4 pp., 8vo, Down to the botanist Professor J. S. Henslow, concerning the flora of Kerguelen Land (in the Indian Ocean), etc. ... Hooker's case of the several Kerguelen L. plants identical or closely allied to those of T. del Fuego, strikes me as the greatest anomaly known in the distribution of beings over the whole world, & therefore I am very anxious to know, whether there is any conceivable (however im-probable) means of their introduction by sea-currents.
