To 270 DARWIN (CHARLES)
A. L. s., 3 pp., 8vo, 7 Park St., Grosvenor Sq:, Monday night, [endorsed: 20 October 1846], concerning his latest book ("Geological Observations on South America") of which he had just received a copy ... & I write in great haste to beg you instantly to give instructions to the Binder not to bind the coloured Plate with its back to all the letter press. . . I never saw such a stupid trick.—You must, if you please, get a man to cut out ALL that are bound & paste them in to front the letterpress. . . I like much the look of the volume. I have not yet seen any advertisements.
