47 DARWIN, CHARLES

A.L.s. 1 p., 12mo; Down, 28 Mar. 1872; to an unnamed correspondent, concerning various physiological matters.

As temperament or mental disposition almost certainly depends on the structure of the brain, it is incredible to me that the nature of the milk, which is digested, can affect the character of the child. Thanks his correspondent for information about starlings, but is so busy on vegetable physiology that he has no time to devote to the higher animals.
