Introduction by Christine Chua
The Gardeners' Chronicle was one of Darwin's favourite magazines in which he published many articles sharing his studies and observations. He sent letters seeking information and recruiting help to procure specimens or information.
This list of annotations was obviously prepared after Darwin's copies of Gardeners' Chronicle had been moved to the Botany School, Cambridge, c. 1908 possibly by H. W. Rutherford.
Darwin's annotated copies of Gardeners' Chronicle are in the Cory and Herbarium Libraries, Cambridge.
