Seed from a Hom: long-styled Cowslip-Poly fert in 1864 by Heteromorphically by pollen from short-styled Hom. Cowslip-Pol. yielded 5 plants — 3 short-styled & 2 long-styled, but one of latter with too short-pistil. Hence it is not the Homomorphic nature but not being crossed with short-styled which makes Hom. offspring from long-styled all come long-styled. —
[in margin:] This proved by Lythrum long ago.—
(Conclusion)
I also raised at same time 4 plants from ordinary Short-styled by own-form pollen & these Hom: 4 seedlings all proved to be short-styled
Red equal-styled Cowslip seed from no 37. These are grandchildren from Edinburgh plant,— 2 have flowered both red & 2 equal-styled, but pistil rather slightly variable in length.

The pollen of 2 Plants contained a multitude of small shrivelled grains, very different from a true Heteromorphic plant which here & there contained only single shrivelled grains— Like pollen of Hybrid. — 25 flowers on 6 of these Plants fert: with own pollen, from same flower
