I stated that perhaps I had not watched cowslip enough & they might be largely visited by Humble Bees.— Having this summer some great beds with 600-700 plants closely planted I have seen several numerous B. hortorum & muscorum sucking. Examined their probosces, at base a very large proportion of larger grains from short-styled long-stamened forms, mingled with some of smaller grain; & at at middle of proboscis & at terminal brush a very large proportion of smaller grains from short-stamened form mingled with some few large-grains from the long-styled—

So that my anticipation was right — So I was right about moths. give Cucullea case.—

I still believe Bees visit never primroses. —
