Lagerstrœmia indica
Aug 5 63.
Pistil on lower side, long, with tip bowed upwards — in middle mass of anther with bright yellow anther & pollen.— from upper side one (!) very long stamen, with thick flesh-coloured filament dark anther & yell dark green pollen — Pollen in both same size about 10/7000 when moderately distended & 11-13 /7000 fully distended. The tip of one single anther is bowed towards upwardly bowed tip of pistil on opposite side of flower — It stands between coloured petal. Are there homologous of petals in Lythrum? In a second fl single anther was produced on opposite side viz on side of pistil
In another flower 5 long green pollen stamens — 19 yellow — It is certainly mid-styled form.—
The petals in one part, with a furrow at base containing pollen —

Aug 9th A flower with 4 long green stamens a second flower with 2 green & one long yellow with flesh-coloured filament, so that intermediate in structure.—
13th Five seems most frequent nor of stamens.
I saw one with yellow pollen on several anthers — evidently very variable—
I saw short-styled L. salicaria with pale coloured almost white pollen.—
29 yellow stamens in another flower.
{I have never seen more than 5 long-green stamens
Augt 17th In one long stamen half or one cell contained green pollen & the other half yellow — so variable!!
