Jan 31 1867. At last a midstyled O. speciosa has appeared — Stigma stands between the 2 sets of anthers — rather below the middle point corresponding with position of longest stamen in long-styled & [distinct] in short-styled. The stigma of long-styled is fully twice as large as that of short-st owing chiefly to greater length of branched filaments; that of mid-styled is intermediate in size. The longest stamen, with slight variability, of mid long-sty correspond on height with stigma of long-styled—
Middle lengthed stamen is
Or say we have stamens of these lengths & these correspond with stigma (with slight variability) with pistils of 3 lengths

Hence according to length of stamens the larger diameter is as 8, 7, & 6. — And in the 2 sets of anther in mi same flowers of mid- & short-styled as 8 to 6 & as 4 to 3, which difference is the diameter of an oval is extremely conspicuous.
