[B2]

Cuphea lanceolata. Kew Sept. 5 62

short-stamens face true homological sepals or large outer divisions of calyx

Calyx & coloured petals as in Lythrum

12 stamens of nearly equal length — filament differ in the two sets in colour & thickness — stigma bent at ∟ to side of nectary

Cuphea ignea Short stamens correspond with longer divisions of calyx ie with true homological sepals ie more whorl of stem

So-called calyx as in Lythrum petals really aborted

Pistil about equal rather shorter in length to their longer stamens not rectangularly bent— Longer stamens slightly gradated — two of the shorter whorl, much shorter than others on side of nectary, so that as in Pelargonium shortness used for aid in gradation — Tip of stigma just project beyond corolla, on side of nectary — Pollen same size in longest & shortest anthers.
