Wood Sorell—
Aug. 7th 1863
The 2 Plants with sticks, ie long-style produced no seed — probably accident
The short-styled produced only one seed with own pollen — but some with pollen of other form; & the little imperfect flower produced seed.—
Most importantly I mingled seed— There seemed great difference in size, markings & colour of 2 kinds of seed!—
Not one flower [illeg] produced any seed— but a multitude of capsules were lost—
Probably all these results accidental & useless.—
