Homologies Aug 29th
Long-styled long stamens face → alternate with petals sepals, or short division short stamen face petals
N.B the long having divis points from calyx, [coincide] with petals
Mid-styled long stamen face sepal sepals short stamen face petals
Short-styled long stamen sepals short face petal
I am almost sure that there are spiral vessels in the long point of calyx facing petal ─ the shorter points are coloured purple if so, there are 5 whorls beside pistil. [sketch]
I must speak of long stamen alternates with petals─ short stamens facing petals─ These petals I suspect now to be modified stamens. Calyx has 12 points, to longer reflexed points have spiral vessel.

Aug 29th I have now examined 3 flowers of long-styled plant form from 3 separate plants on the [illeg]; & the pollen of large stamens dry seems to me clearly larger than from short stamens. (Hence I must say generally but pollen variable in size & I have found one or two plants in which this difference could barely & doubtfully be detected & in one or two cases did not apparently exist.)
William looked at all 3 sets of pollen, without knowledge, & picked out the large pollen of longer stamens─ So did Leonard all right.
I damped with breath & same difference
(I have also compared again dry & damp short pollen of short-styled with short pollen of said styled, & just same difference as in above case of long-styled─
All right.─
