Nine primrose measu of each kind measured as before:—

From middle of stigma to middle of anther in short-styled is to middle of the same distance in long-style as 100 to 94.6

Taking the average of these 9 with the previous six observations, I get the average of 15 observations.

Distance from mid of style to stigma to middle of anther in short-styled is the same distance in long-styled as 100 to 93.2

These 9 observations show that the anthers of long-styled are equal in length to those of short-styled

Twelve long styled corollas & 12 short st corollas were measure across the biggest diameter; the sum of all the measurements of the thrum is to the sum of all the measurements of the pin eyed as 100 to 95

N.B One counted as a thrum eye was really a pin eye

Primula veni vulgaris

Six long styled flowers measure from middle of stigma to top of anthers, & from middle of stigma to bottom of anthers, the average mean of these gives the distance  from middle of stigma to middle of anthers.

Six short styled measured in same way.

Short styled to Long styled as 100: 92 91

so that the distance is to short-styled is greatest in above proportion

19 [x] 3 [=] 57

The length of short-stamened anthersof short-stamens in short long-styled form is to length of anthers of long stamens of long short styled as 100:60

ie anther of in short-styled are smaller & the short styled form is the more fertile

(p. 23 (spont no) self-fert short-styled flower are much more sterile than spont. self-fert long-styled in ration of 6.2 18.8 to 19.2 52 or as 1 to 3)

Measure cor those stamens & corolla
