Sept 18'—21' Tropæolum majus

I covered either the upper or lower side of 3 leaves on young plant with blackened paper or tin-foil — fastened on edges with little gum, & placed in Black box before before N.E. window, & the petioles bent perfectly & bent the leaves so as to face light. Sensitiveness seems to reside in Petioles, independently of Blade.
