Cress Light (see Back

Dec. 4th Put pot under microscope a cot was moving excessively slowly in direction of light— turned on pure light about 11° 25' & in 10' crossed only 1 1/2/500 of inch—no oscillation— no retrograde movements Observation finished about 11° 25': after interval of 20' observed for 5' & quite stationary.

I suppose kept so long under yellow light & all this morning almost dark under paper collar has paralysed plant.— No, F. suggested that even yesterday plant looked too dry watered it about 12° & at 1° tip of Cot passed over 2/500 towards light in 2' 42".—

Asparagus Effects of Light

Dec. 6th. a seedling 1.8 high adjusted under bichromate, for 2 days previously surrounded by collar of brown paper, exposed in dark chamber to paraffin Lamp.— It was nutating & going to left. After exposure to full light in 5' moved 1/500 from light; in 11' neary 2/500 of inch from light— Did not begin to move to light until 18' or 19' had elapsed, & then so slowly that crossed 1/500 only in 7' or — Second case of first moving from light.—
