Dendrobium Pierandi —Aerial roots.

India

July 5th 1879 8° 15 a.m — Plant laid flat in Hot-case, surrounded by Black paper so illuminated only from above— rubbed extreme upper 2 or 3 with caustic — as tips quite dry, breathed on caustic— Green young tips short.

5 radicles white thread pointing vertically up to light, of the 5 2 cauterised.

(5) radicles (Black thread) extended horizontally, 3 cauterised—

Red wool

(4) Radicles extended upwards to light at about angle of 45° 2 of these cauterised.

4 R. in ring of red. & again red wool inclined slightly up to light for length of ab 15 .m.m touched with caustic 29th Horizontal

do. do. & again pale green wool like last, but curved part only 12 mm touched with caustic — inclined downward

do. do with white thread — green & adjoining horizontal— no caustic

do. do with black thread inclined up to light like red with red.

Black thread alone, inclined little up to light for 22 m.m Caustic

Black-thread + white silk (close by) inclined a little up to light for 14 m.m. no caustic

Dark green w. Horizontal for 8 m.m. Caustic

White silk horizontal for ab 6 mm
