2 seedlings painted with thick Indian Ink about upper third of hypocotyl
Painted Light
1 painted lower third
1 & very young one left untouched.
(Not in the least injured by the thick painting with Indian ink.)

April 5th
Helianthus annus Heliotropism
2 painted Indian ink upper half— not bowed to light
Painted Useless
1 painted lower half — affected as much as the 1 to which nothing done
1 natural lower part of stem very little bowed
Pot laid Horizontally during night all turned well up, showing that the colouring had not hurt them — except 1 plant to which nothing whatever had been done & which curved upwards a very little. perhaps older, marked with stick— I marked this plant with stick to see if it will behave so again.
