Single glands tried

Albury Aug. 11- 71. Nitrate of Ammonia 1 gr to 1 oz water

Unfortunately I neglected to try whether those that did not move, wd have moved with meat.

At 12º 33 – one of my drops (300 to 5 minim) put on 4 glands, & not all used for some viscid matter is always thus removed (& this remarks applies to all following cases)

(Albury) N. of Amm.

at 1º 3' one had moved

— 1 30 a second had moved.

The 2 others never moved.

At 4º 10' 3 hairs with same small quantity

at 5º 25' no movement, at 7º ie after 2º 50' all 3 had moved

At 5º 30 ― 2 hairs no movement

So during day 9 hairs tried & 5 moved.

On Aug 12th ― 16 hairs tried in same manner as above with solution of 1.2 gr nitrate of ammonia to 1 oz. In some cases 4 & in some 3 on same plant

Perhaps one moved, but no others; but I omitted to try them with meat.

(The water of crystallization ought to be allowed for)

At Down. Augt 26/72/ put on in same manner on 7 glands two drops of Ni of Ammonia 1/2 gr to oz. & caused no movement in 8 1/2º. Some of same solution put on centre of whole leaf, blackened central heads but caused in same time no clear movement, after 24º central heads again red ― Aug 27th 8º 10' put on larger drop on same leaf of same solution & touched some of outer tentacles & put on 3 other leaves ― 5º P.m. on 3 of the leaves several Hairs had bent but only some on the side on which fluid had been dropped

Aug 13 I cut off & pulled off some hairs, & the intermediate ones after a time moved
