(1) 2 leaves acetate of Morphia    2 gr t 1 oz.    9..  8 10'

(Nonil inflection) 11O 5' put on C. of Am 1 gr t 1 oz ( & fresh Leaf with long stalk (for comparison)    ie 1O 40'

11O 27' Seg. caused in Morphia & some inflection

(1O. both leaves with nearly same inflection as the fresh leaf in the Carbonate glands equally blackened— This show that with Morphia for 2O has not prevented action of powerful dose of C. of Amm (viz 2 g. t 1 oz)— (Washed & put in water)

(July 30th 8O 10' I think all somewhat expanded.) (—5O certainly considerably expanded)

(2)    Acetate of Morphia 2 leaves 1 gr. to 1 oz    9. 12

(. 1O no inflct.) i.e. aft 4O

(2O. 30', do; put in C of Amm 1 gr t 1 oz

(3O 15) very considerable inflection in both leaves)

(July 30    8O 30' same state)

July 2 9th

(6)  Acetate of Morphia 2 gr. to 1 oz    9. 25' (good reddish leaf) ie for 6h 15' did not prevent enormous inflect from C. of Amm. at 2h 40m

(2O 40' [-] 25 [=] 15 1 tent close over pedicel inflect; perhaps due to cutting off above pedicel, put in C. of Am. 1 gr t 1 oz) (2O 43 all but 9 Closely inflected; put in pure water) water in glass coloured pink

(5O 20' about 25 tent inflected, glands oddly coloured tips pale, base black)

5O 20' enormous inflection whole lamina doubled up.

(July 31 1O 30' same state

July 30th /73/

4 leaves in 2 dr. of Acetate of Morphia 2 gr. to 1 oz    put in 8O 12' , & placed at 10O 36' [-] 8 12 [=] 2 24 i. e after 2O 24' in 2 dr. of Phosphate of Ammonia ( 1 gr. t 20 oz )

(1) ts soon inflected (10O 43' almost every tentacle inflected, more than any water spec.

(2)spec. 10O 45' inflecting) 10O 55' tent all round 1/2 sub-inflected half closely    none of the water spec. equal these 2 morphia spec.)

(3) (12O) a trace of sub-inflection, not —— more than often occurs in water spec

It is proved that the above dose of A. of Morphia does not prevent inflection with Ph of Amm Can it possibly act with meat? or is it not be probably that my observation all an error. (Could there have been any free acetic acid in the Acetate ? No, the sol. is neutral )
