occurrence of sexually limit variations, sexually limited in their transmission, but in no way beneficial or injurious. It seems much more probable that sexual selection has often come into in these cases into play; & it deserves attention, as rendering this view more probable, that differences in colour between the sexes occur almost exclusively, as may be seen by going through the previous details, in those groups or sub-groups, which present other secondary sexual characters, equally requiring indicating the action of sexual selection.)
